Deadlines. To-do lists. Bills. Mounting piles of laundry. Stress can sneak up on you and affect your health – including your heart health – before you even realize it. In honor of Heart Month, take steps to protect your ticker (and your overall health) by finding stress-relieving techniques that work for you:
- Carve out time for peace and quiet. Take a few minutes to get away from the noise of the day with a quiet walk. Or find a form of meditation you can practice that helps you feel calm (and may even help lower your blood pressure).
- Move to a happier beat. Listening to music can be a mood booster. And when combined with exercise, it could be the perfect combination to fight stress and strengthen your heart. It could also help you feel more prepared – physically and mentally – to face your everyday challenges.
- Talk it out. Keeping stress bottled up is never healthy. Find an understanding friend who will listen to you (and you can be a good listener for them, too).
Here’s to a happier, healthier and more relaxed you,
